OPINION: STOP WASTING BILLIONS ON BABY FUSION REACTORS WHEN WE HAVE A GIANT ONE FOR FREE

We already have a massive fusion reactor sitting 93 million miles away, blasting us with limitless power every day.

It’s called the Sun, and it’s free.

Solar energy is the greatest bargain in human history.

Costs have crashed nearly 90 percent in fifteen years.

Utility-scale solar is now cheaper than coal or gas in most of the world.

Cover a corner of Nevada in panels and you could power the United States.

Add batteries and you’ve got 24/7 clean energy, no plasma containment required.

Meanwhile, fusion research looks like a slow-motion comedy.

ITER, the world’s biggest experiment, to be more direct, it is a multinational nuclear fusion research responsible for bleeding money past 25 billion Euros.

The first meaningful test?

Maybe 2039.

And even then, it won’t power a single home.

It’s not that fusion science isn’t cool, it’s that we’re acting like we don’t already have the real thing lighting our skies.

Every dollar sunk into lab-scale mini suns or solar could be building real power plants today, cutting emissions now, not fifty years from now.

Pair solar with cheap rockets and orbital power stations, and we can beam energy anywhere on Earth.

The future of clean energy isn’t trapped in a reactor.

It’s literally burning overhead.

We can’t do better than a star.
